Application Support Worker

The Application Support Worker plays a key role in supporting community members to complete loan applications. This includes assessing and confirming eligibility, assisting with application paperwork, verifying documentation, and referring applicants to appropriate internal program staff or external support services. The role also involves providing, or facilitating access to, additional supports such as Financial Literacy Education.

Moneycare is The Salvation Army's (Salvos) national financial counselling and financial capability program which seeks to alleviate hardship and build long term resilience. The Salvos understands that everyone's financial situation is different. Our evidence-based methods are professional, caring and have a holistic impact on the lives of those who come to us seeking assistance.

The Application Support Worker will:

  • Screening and Eligibility: Assess, determine, and confirm applicant eligibility for microfinance programs through established assessment and verification processes.
  • Documentation and Application Support: Guide community members through the loan application process, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner. Review and verify supporting documents and follow up with applicants where additional information is required.
  • Client Support and Referrals: Assist individuals and families who may be at risk but are not in immediate crisis, focusing on early intervention and preventative support. Identify and refer clients to alternative assistance options and coordinate access to Financial Literacy Education and related resources to strengthen financial capability.
  • Communication and Data Management: Maintain accurate records of all application documentation, correspondence, and data entry while ensuring strict confidentiality and compliance with privacy requirements.

What You Will Bring:

  • A qualification in FNS40821 Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking.
  • Demonstrated experience in microfinance roles, particularly those involving client engagement and database management.
  • Strong knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality requirements when handling sensitive client information.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in database systems and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
