Do you want to be part of an innovative technical team advancing patient healthcare? Join Thermo Fisher Scientific's Protein Diagnostic Division as a System Engineer Intern! You will contribute to the design and development of products used in clinical laboratories to diagnose patient diseases. You will collaborate with customers, developers and testers to ensure products exceed customer expectations.

A day in the Life:

  • Assist in the collection and analysis of user and stakeholder requirements for medical device systems.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, hardware engineers, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Support compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).
  • Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations on system architecture, design, and functionality.
  • Develop and maintain system-level documentation, including requirements specifications, design documents, and interface control documents.
  • Conduct system-level testing and validation to ensure device performance and safety.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in risk management activities, including hazard analysis and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA).

Keys to Success: Education:

  • Studying for a degree preferably in Engineering or Science (Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Physics or related field).

Preferred Experience:

  • Product Design
  • Product Testing
  • Service and support of complex systems

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of defining technical requirements.
  • Ability to create concepts/designs to meet technical requirements.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to solve software and hardware issues.

This role is to start in July/August 2026 for a 1 year internship as part of your degree.
