The Drug Product Division - North America (DPD-NA) is one of the five divisions that make up the Pharma Services Group. We are made up of approximately 4,400 colleagues across six sites who specialize in taking sterile injectable and oral solid dose drug products from development to commercialization.
The Sr Packaging/Labeling Technician will be responsible to use appropriate leadership skills to guide individuals toward task accomplishment in the optimal operations of the packaging and inspection areas, while ensuring proper documentation, process checks, and verification of components. They will carry out the production process by closely following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instruction Documents as they relate to assembly, materials handling, equipment operation, and finished products. Typical hours are Sunday – Thursday 8PM – 6AM, sometimes Friday 8PM – 2AM.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure operations are performed safely and responsibly, striving to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace.
- Informs supervision of any violations of rules or procedures and assists supervision in the implementation of the rules and procedures of the area. Keeps supervision informed of production and training progress and follows up where necessary.
- Plans, with the supervisor's assistance, that a successive production order is prepared and ready for the crew when needed, including inspection/packaging material problems or shortages. etc.
- Receives work schedule: Assigns and rotates personnel for job operations as required and assigns the crew to specific jobs during cleanup/changeovers.
- Instruct and train inspection operators in the most efficient and safest method of operating equipment and the proper performance of various inspection tasks. Instruct and train inexperienced employees in quality standards and specific job responsibilities.
- Reports to the observer about any observations or suggestions of self or crew members regarding product quality, work improvements, or safety precautions.
- Verifies all components and bulks used to inspect/package each batch of product.
- Performs in-process checks, technique audits, and monitors proper documentation throughout the packaging/inspection process according to Filling Work Orders, Packaging Work Orders, Protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintains accurate inventory control for batch and materials. Reconcile the quantity of batches to account for defects, samples, and finished goods. Investigate any discrepancies found during reconciliation.
- Communicate by face-to-face follow-up with peers and provide email updates across various departments.
- Adapts effectively to various individual personalities and learning abilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned per supervision/management.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent minimally required.
Experience:
Two years of experience in manual inspection/pharmaceutical packaging preferred.
Qualifications:
- Excels in a team environment.
- Basic math skills.
- Good verbal/written communication.
- Attention to detail while maintaining a quality product.
- Ability to perform repetitive work duties.
- Ability to follow SOPs.
Physical Requirements:
- Work in a clean-room which is a controlled environment for temperature and humidity having low ambient noise.
- Wear gowning which includes: gloves, hair & beard net and face cover, safety glasses with no makeup / jewelry, and the like.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and understand chemical hygiene.
- Infrequently lift and manipulate up to 25 pounds max unassisted.
- Stand and move about including reaching, bending, stooping, grasping.
- Use hand tools and equipment including forceful gripping, grasping, pushing and pulling.
- Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-35 pounds.
