Project Engineering Co-op

Summary: The Project Engineering Co-op is an integral part of the Engineering team. They are primarily responsible for the management of small projects in the department and tracking continuous improvement savings and project costs. The Co-op student presents an end of work term presentation to the Site Leadership Team.

Essential Functions:

  • Project management for small projects in the department
  • Develop project management plans and schedules
  • Development and execution Installation and Qualification Protocols
  • Participate in other equipment related activities (commissioning, start-up, test trials etc.)
  • Assist in tracking Operational Excellence savings as well as project costs
  • Explore production efficiency improvement ideas
  • Help troubleshoot issues and support Engineers in the department
  • Assist in organizing engineering drawings
  • Assist in setting up engineering document library
  • Maintain a safe working environment and reports potential hazards

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required
  • Working towards a College Diploma or University Degree in Engineering
  • Experience: Requires no previous related experience
  • Equivalency: Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills. Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy. Works well with limited supervision and takes full ownership of assigned work. Excellent time management skills. Strong ideas, decision making abilities, trouble shooting and thinking-out-of-the-box skills. Project management skills preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Proficiency with the English language.
