A day-in-the-life of an Automotive Service Coordinator:
As an Automotive Service Coordinator, you will dispatch calls for emergency roadside assistance to members and/or club fleet personnel via radio, telephone, or electronically. You will receive and manage calls related to emergency and/or commercial road service, utilizing a computer aided call processing system. Performing geographical location spotting and map reading, you will provide detailed instructions to Fleet Service or contracted personnel to determine member/customer location and when duty calls, you may also service as a back-up Driver to ensure quality service for our members.
In this role, you will also have the opportunity to:
- Monitor dispatched calls and take action to resolve and correct service or other potential problems
- Handle driver/customer escalations in accordance with established procedures
- Provide explanations to customers and reports/documents service issues
- Close service requests using company electronic dispatching system
- Accept payment from members/customers, when necessary
- Reconcile and resolve rudimentary payment issues and maintain related records and files
- Maintain inventory of tow truck/service vehicle supplies, vehicle maintenance/repair records, and requisition replacement tools and/or equipment, when required
- Ensure proper maintenance of tow trucks, service vehicles and equipment
- Assist coworkers and less-tenured dispatchers, as necessary

- Hourly rate starting at $23.50. Pay rate will be determined based on experience and may exceed starting rate.
- Overtime earning potential at time and a half the hourly wage
- Shift premiums: 5% for hours worked between 5pm and 11pm and 10% for hours worked between 11pm and 5am

We are looking for candidates who:
Required Qualifications:
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Possess a valid state driver's license with minimal driving infractions/incidents
- Successfully complete drug screening, MVR, criminal background check and DOT health screenings (pre-employment and ongoing)
- If employed in Illinois, have a valid Illinois C-Non CDL driver's license
Experience:
- Prior tow truck or other related driving experience
Knowledge and Skills:
- Have strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Can perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Able to locate street numbers and intersections within an acceptable time frame
- Comfortable providing direction and guidance to others
- Able to maintain files/records and complete activity reports
- Successfully complete drug screening and DOT health screen
- Operate tow truck or light service vehicle and related equipment to provide emergency road service to AAA members and other motorists
- Capable of providing minor automotive repair (i.e. changing hoses, belts, etc.) during absence of assigned personnel
- Lift materials weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds
- Fluent in speaking, reading, writing in English
- Familiar with various types of towing equipment (i.e. safety chains, sling, 'j' hooks, dollies, lock-out tools, wheel-lift equipment, roll back trucks, etc.)
- Willing to work irregular hours and in adverse weather conditions, when required
Work Environment:
Works 50% of time in normal office environment. Frequent (50% or more) time spent in driving service vehicles and/or tow trucks to provide emergency road service to AAA members, employees, and the general public, with exposure to road hazards and temperature extremes.
