System Test Engineer

Location: Hengelo, Netherlands

Over het team:

The Services department (105 FTE's) within the Supply Chain is responsible for providing various services for the delivered radar systems, including technical assistance, repairs, overhauls, modifications, and service parts. The department consists of 3 sub-departments for the different activities with an additional support team where all logistical and technical supporting functions are incorporated.

In the role of System Test Engineer, you will be part of a test team and be responsible for the execution of system integration, test, and service activities throughout the entire lifecycle of the system. These systems include state-of-the-art radar antennas, processing, and supporting systems. You will be active in setting up or adapting test procedures, preparing activities related to integration, test, and service activities, and compiling reports of performed activities. You will work both at our location in Hengelo and at customer locations, including on board ships, all over the world to deliver our systems and services to our customers.

Belangrijkste taken en verantwoordelijkheden betreffen:

  • Integrating and testing radar and electro-optical systems.
  • Testing and providing services at customer locations, on board in the harbor, and at sea.
  • Evaluating the system's performance in its operational environment.
  • Acting as a "trouble shooter" in situations of technical and/or performance problems.
  • Performing services such as system "health checks", maintenance, repairs of the systems.

In this role, the challenge lies in optimizing a wide range of Thales Radar products that are in use with our customers worldwide. The variety of work is great and challenging for the engineer who will strengthen our team.

This job is very suitable for an enthusiastic professional with the ambition to work abroad several times a year for short or longer periods. We are looking for a hands-on colleague who is interested in working with both old and new technologies, as we support our products throughout their long lifecycle.

  • MBO+ with work experience in the fields of Electrical Engineering/Electronics/Computer Science, Applied Physics, Mechatronics
  • Affinity and work experience with radar, analog techniques, Linux or other is a plus

  • Fluent in English and Dutch in speech and writing.
  • Pragmatic, results-oriented, and eye for detail.
  • Customer-oriented and professionalism in dealing with the external customer.
  • Availability for (international) travel
