Over Thales IS/IT
Thales is a global technology leader with more than 77,000 employees on five continents. The Group invests in digital and "deep tech" innovations - Big Data, artificial intelligence, connectivity, cybersecurity, and quantum technology - to build a future we can all rely on.
In the markets of defense and security, aerospace, digital identity and security, and transport, Thales provides solutions, services, and products to help its customers - companies, organizations, and governments - to perform their critical missions.
With a team of about 150 colleagues spread across 15 - mostly product-related - Agile/DevOps squads, we provide IS/IT support to our 2500 NL colleagues in various Business Lines and functions. The IS/IT department of Thales Netherlands works closely with the international IS/IT departments of the Thales Group. We have adopted an agile organization model similar to the Spotify model in terms of Tribes, Chapters, and Squads.
Our mission is: "Providing secure access to Thales information in one click" and our culture statement is "Fit for our future". As a learning organization, we fully embrace the Agile principles and strive for excellence through continuous improvement. We are not afraid to fail, as long as we can learn from it.
IT-Engineering Support is part of the IS/IT department of Thales Netherlands. The IT Engineering Support chapter consists of 30 enthusiastic IT engineers and consultants divided into three self-managing squads working closely together. The chapter consists of systems-, software-, and IT architects, application specialists, and infrastructure specialists. We collect requirements, validate them against security protocols, and design solutions and implement them together with the end users, but also with the other IS/IT squads. We maintain our own products and projects and are involved with the latest IS/IT developments within the Thales Group.
The day begins with a stand-up in which the team assesses what they have achieved yesterday, what they are going to do today, and if they experience or foresee impediments. After the stand-up, you'll start working on deploying or improving the tooling and providing support to engineers. You are continuously working on the improvement of collaboration, within your own squad, but also between other squads. Following the Scrum principles, you work with the squad in two-weekly sprints in which you provide Software Engineers with new tooling - mostly based on Linux and container images - and supporting them in optimizing and/or automating the use of those tools.
Within these activities, you'll be responsible for:
