System Test Engineer
Location: Hengelo, Netherlands
The Products Department within Thales Netherlands Naval is responsible for the system integration and testing of radar equipment (such as antennas, transmitters, and receivers), as well as testing the complete system throughout its lifecycle. The department is also responsible for the installation and commissioning of the systems on board, performing system performance tests, and providing services such as Health Checks, Technical Assistance, and Repairs for our customers.
In the role of System Test Engineer, you will work in an exciting and technically challenging domain focused on the integration of radar and electro-optical systems. These systems include state-of-the-art radar antennas, processing, and support systems. As a System Test Engineer, you will be part of a test team and will work on these systems throughout their lifecycle. You will work both on our premises and at customer locations (including on board ships) worldwide to deliver our systems and services. Your tasks and responsibilities include:
- Independently integrating and testing radar and electro-optical systems;
- Performing tests on location, on board in the harbor and at sea;
- Evaluating the performance of the system in the operational environment;
- Acting as a troubleshooter for technical and/or performance problems;
- Providing services such as system health checks, maintenance, and repair.
We are looking for a practical colleague who is enthusiastic about working with both proven and the latest technologies, as we continue to support our products throughout their long lifecycle. For the System Test Engineer position, we require the following skills:
- MBO/HBO/WO degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Technical Physics, or Mechatronics;
- Affinity with radar systems; affinity with analog techniques, the Linux terminal, or computer networks is a plus;
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability;
- Ability to apply appropriate interventions when the situation requires it;
- Good command of the English language, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
