Sr. Verification and Validation Engineer

Role Description Summary
In this role you will work in an international multidisciplinary team focused on the Verification and Validation of the TopSKY HE product in order to confirm compliance to requirements and the fitness for purpose in accordance with Operational Scenarios. You will be responsible for the design and execution of the procedures and scenarios.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
As a Sr. Verification and Validation Engineer, you are accountable for:
- Verification of the solution to confirm the system's compliance to the Functional Baseline requirements
- Validation of the solution to confirm the system's fitness for purpose in accordance with the Operational Concepts.
- Contribute in System Requirement Analysis activities to confirm requirements are testable and allocate a Verification Method(s) and Verification Phase(s), documented in the Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM).
- Proactively participate in PI planning and backlog refinement including contributing to the effort estimation
- Conduct of the verification and validation tests in accordance with the Project Plan(s) and Project Schedule at the program's relevant location (Thales 'premises, supplier premises and/or customer premises)
- Conduct of verification and validation tests during formal testing activities Acceptance Verification and Validation (AV&V) with the Customer.
- Communicate with both internal and external stakeholders for the V&V testing activities.
- Participate in System Requirement Analysis workshops, internally, with suppliers and with the Customer.
- Participate in Test Procedure Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews, internally, with suppliers and with the Customer.
- Report regularly on the progress of the testing activity against the agreed planning and budget
- Record the test results in the project Test Management System and any defects in the Defect Management System.
- Contribute to the Defect CCB by providing summary defect status and impact assessments
- Track and verify and validate defect corrections including regression testing.
- Maintain and retest test procedures as requirements are changed
- Produce Test Procedure Books and Test Reports.
- Support your Squad members (software, integration and verification)
- Support the Product Owner (PO) and Scrum Master (SM)
- Make recommendations on strategies to improve performance or productivity
- Identify risks, and proposing effective solution early and executing mitigation actions
- Provide input into the planning and coordination of program integration activities
- Contribute to the development of Policies, Processes and Procedures for the V&V activities best practice
- Leading Technical Working groups both internally and externally to define technical solutions
- Mentoring and support to all personnel involved in V&V activities, and contribute to succession plans for key V&V roles.
- Contribute to the development of V&V Engineering estimates for any modification proposals to the baseline in the context of projects/bids
- Work in accordance with the defined Thales processes and practices, and contribute to their improvement.
Key Knowledge and Experience
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
Essential Experience
- Test Engineering / Test Analyst experience of large, complex, real time software based systems (5+ years)
- Experience in Air Traffic Management Verification and Validation Scenario design and execution
- ATM experience in the following areas:
- Airspace
- Coordination
- ATM HMI
- Interpartition
- Adaptation/Configuration
- Experience with Air Traffic Management standards eg. ICAO, Eurocontrol, AID
- Application of domain knowledge to high value complex design, development and integration projects.
- Proven experience in conducting objective reviews of verification and validation artefacts
- Proven problem identification and analysis skills and system requirements analysis skills
- Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary integrated team environment
- A positive attitude combined with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.
- Sound judgement and independent decision-making capability where necessary
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
Desirable:
- Experience in Air Traffic Management Operations
- Experience in System Engineering tools eg. DOORs, Jira
- Experience in Verification and Validation Tools eg. Vivaldi, Jira
- Experience in working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB)
- Advanced Test Analyst CTAL-TA Certification
