Repair Station Certifying Engineer

Location: Dubai

Job Objective: To test, repair, modify and recertify IFE equipment, in accordance with applicable regulation (GCAA/EASA/UK CAA)

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment to component level in accordance with GCAA/EASA regulations and company Inspections Procedures Manual.
  • Modify equipment based on OEM service bulletin and manufacturer documentation (CMM, IPC).
  • Complete quality and production paper work, prepares estimates, and maintain maintenance documentation in accordance with current quality assurance requirements
  • Communicate with Team Leader, Customer Service, Quality and Supply Chain Group as required to support repair process.
  • Participate in Technician cross training.
  • Ensure any tooling used is duly cleaned and returned in serviceable condition or clearly labeled if defective.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 02 Years as Certifying Staff and at least 05 Years of IFE
  • Maintenance Experience or total 08 Years of IFE maintenance experience.
  • Recent experience of 06 Months in the past 2 years.
  • Fully familiar with aviation quality, technical documentation and applicable standards
  • Previous experience dealing with an ERP system

Qualification, Certification & Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor Of Engineering Degree (Electronics or Computer Science) or Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP)

Preferred Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of IFE components, Inspection Techniques
  • Knowledge of SMS, Understanding of QMS, Decision Making & Accountability, Attention to Detail
  • Teamwork and Leadership.
  • Flexibility for Shifting and switching duties

HSE Responsibilities:

  • Take care of your own safety and the safety of others as far as is practicable.
  • To be aware of and play an active role in the development and implementation of the HSE Management System, project HSE requirements and Policy Statements.
  • Understanding your personal responsibilities and contribute to achieving compliance with the HSE Management System requirements, understand the potential consequences of non-compliance to the HSE arrangements and commits to stated policies above.
  • Comply with local laws and legislation regarding HSE.
  • To use safety equipment (including PPE) as required and intended and observe that this is also enforced within their departments and among subcontractors and third parties working in Thales' controlled premises/systems.
  • Do not interfere with or change, adjust anything that is provided for safety unless fully trained to do so.
  • Promote a good HSE culture within their departments and among their peers, subcontractors and third parties
  • Lead by example and actively encourage their departments to look at ways to conserve energy, water and resources and minimize the generation of waste through personal performance and raise recommendations on how to improve existing processes on this regard within/outside their departments
  • Conduct regular reviews on the HSE Management System Performance within their areas of responsibility and seek ways of continual improvement.
