NPI Engineer

Location: Huizen, Netherlands

The Thales location in Huizen, where approximately 300 colleagues work, offers a wide range of engineering solutions to support the Army's communication and situational awareness needs. One of the main subsystems is SOTAS, which provides audio communication and IT infrastructure within military vehicles. In addition to standard products, we also develop customer-specific, customized solutions.

About the team

The Hardware Engineering team (35 fte) translates customer requirements into robust technical solutions that are qualified according to military standards. To make the products optimally suitable for production, manufacturing engineers work closely within the hardware development team. The focus is on developing and releasing electronic PCBAs and mechanical parts (such as housings). The production of these parts is outsourced to our partners.

The SOTAS product is assembled and functionally tested in our Huizen location.

About your future job

In your role in the HW engineering team, you will be the bridge to the EMS and also the other departments within Thales. This will accelerate the transition from bringing new and existing PCBAs to series production. To ensure that we deliver quality products to our customers, you will ensure that both internal and external production know exactly how the product should be produced and tested. For this you will compile data packages and work instructions and communicate proactively with the EMS partners and internal production.

Your main tasks are:

  1. Technical interface between the hardware development teams and the EMS/suppliers.
  2. Optimizing production throughput by understanding the EMS processes.
  3. Supporting suppliers to continuously improve quality and cost-effectiveness.
  4. Guiding production when issues arise with PCBAs.
  5. Signaling long lead times and coordinating with project teams.
  6. Keeping track of outstanding orders and contributing to the procurement process.
  7. Coordinating new and existing product changes with the EMS.

  • Is a creative and analytical thinker who is always looking for smart solutions.
  • Has a higher education diploma or equivalent through experience.
  • Has good communication skills, is proactive and can work independently.

What do you get in return?

  • A challenging job in a fun team within our high-tech, innovative work environment. Including all space for your own initiative and good ideas.
  • Opportunities for personal and professional development within the organization, for example on a technical, commercial or international level.
  • Valuable international collaborations with colleagues from 68 countries.
  • A comfortable workplace in a modern environment, with attention to flexibility and the right work-life balance.
  • You can usually work where and when you want to do your work as efficiently as possible. Within Thales we implement hybrid working, where you can work from home for example two days a week if your role allows it.
  • A good salary, appropriate travel expenses and the possibility to personalize your employment terms annually: you can exchange for example free days for internet costs, our cycling plan, company fitness and relocation costs.
