The Operational Support Technician will perform a variety of technical support work duties for the Operational Support section of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) Agency Administration Division to facilitate the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the division. Skill in providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers; operating a personal computer and applicable software; operating a forklift, manual floor-jack, 4-wheel dolly and 2-wheel adjusting dolly; accurate typing and data entry and effective verbal and written communication, human relations and organizational skills. Ability to work in a setting requiring self-motivation/cooperative decision-making and to work effectively with diverse groups of people; multi-task in a fast-paced environment; work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines while maintain extreme attention to detail; adapt successfully and quickly to change and deliver quality results in a timely manner; plan, organize and work independently, as well as within a team environment; operate a box van, a 24-foot truck and a truck with trailer in a safe manner; exercise sound judgment and discretion; and to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Requires working in a normal office work environment and occasionally working in a non-air-conditioned warehouse. May involve walking; standing; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping and bending; safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 pounds; and driving a state vehicle. May involve travel (up to 10%), occasionally overnight.
The agency does not offer telework. TDA employees are required to be physically present for work. The agency’s core business hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. TDA also provides limited customer service between 6:00-8:00 a.m. and 5:00-6:00 p.m.
