Position Summary

We are looking for a resilient, high-energy, Spacesuit Project Engineer who will primarily be responsible for assisting with the scheduling, planning, resourcing, and managing technical activities to ensure assigned projects are completed on time and within specification. This role requires strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads and/or facilitates all phases of a project including research, design, procurement, assembly, integration, test, operations, etc.
  • Develop, track, and manage project forecast, scope, risks, and schedule.
  • Responsible for internal collaboration, review, and integration of project procurement activities.
  • Provide oversight, guidance and collaboration with internal team departments, general contractors, designers, and vendors to ensure they are staying within project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Review plans, inspect fabricated end items, conduct investigations, and provide recommendations as necessary to assure compliance with established requirements, regulations, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Facilitate and/or coordinate meetings with project teams as required.
  • Track, update, and provide recommendations for and required engineering change orders.
  • Identify, manage and communicate project and program related risks.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • 5-10 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working with vendors, procurement and legal processes
  • Track record of delivering outcomes in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges
  • Proven to deliver high quality results under tight deadlines

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation. Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time) Standard office equipment (PC, phone, printer, etc.)
