As NASA's largest engineering solutions provider working with NASA at centers across the United States, we have an exciting opportunity for a Spacesuit Engineering Technologist to join the team with JETS II teammate company, Aerodyne Industries. The Spacesuit Engineering Technologist will:
Requisition Qualifications: This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised. Typically requires a HS diploma and 10 years of experience or BS in Engineering Technology or related field and 5 years of experience. BFA/BS in Industrial Design, Design Engineering, or equivalent. Experience in a design lab environment with a focus on high-quality workmanship and functional design. Proficiency in machining metals/plastics, composite fabrication, and 3D printing. Ability to independently solve complex design challenges and collaborate with technical experts. Proficiency in parametric CAD tools and software such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office. Experience working on cross-disciplinary teams. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Familiarity with the engineering design process and lifecycle. Ability to pass a Class III AF Physical.
Requisition Preferences: BA/BFA/BS in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Experience with aerospace product design and fabrication drawings. Prototyping experience with both soft goods and hard goods. Familiarity with Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and test facility hardware. Experience with NASA prototype or flight hardware (Class I/IE/II/III/IIIW). Proficiency in SolidWorks, Mastercam, Fusion 360, Adobe Illustrator, and/or Rhino 8. Experience operating and repairing spacesuit components or pressure systems. Knowledge of advanced materials (metals, textiles, composites) and material testing standards. Experience with low-machinability aerospace materials (e.g., titanium, superalloys). Familiarity with JSC organizations, processes, and NASA development protocols.
