Solids Control Field Technician Trainee - Environmental Services

Under general direction from the Field Leader(s), the Solids Control Field Technician Trainee - Environmental Services, is responsible for overseeing the mechanical processes that are used to provide enhanced drilling operations and recycle drilling fluid through closed loop and other mud systems. The Solids Control Field Technician Trainee - Environmental Services, will perform a variety of solids control services that include, but are not limited to, rig-up, rig-outs, centrifuge support, equipment testing and monitoring, troubleshooting and repairs, preparing field reports/results, optimization testing, and liaising with onsite clients to ensure job targets are achieved while working towards a safe and efficient work environment. The Solids Control Field Technician Trainee - Environmental Services, will work alongside other Environmental Services Field Technicians, and will report directly to a rotating Field Leader position.

Essential Functions:

  • Able to work 28 days on and 14 days off. (Schedule will vary by Area and Project).
  • Able to work a 12-hour shift, daily, including overtime.
  • Able to work on a team with multiple Technicians and Field Leaders, rotational schedule that will consist of day, night and possibly a swing shift.
  • Must be able to travel domestically to remote locations, in personal vehicle, and by company provided travel, throughout the United States.
  • Must be able to travel by plane to various locations across the country.
  • Ability to perform standard rig up and rig out of equipment without supervision.
  • Will independently operate and maintain a variety of solids control equipment including shaker tanks, centrifuge, drying equipment, and pumps.
  • Will have established understanding of operations process.
  • Will enhance knowledge of Environmental Services (construction, utilities).
  • Will be responsible for knowing basic electrical awareness principles.
  • Will independently perform various solids control services.
  • Will have established understanding of drilling fluid properties.
  • Will independently perform routine maintenance services and routine electrical services on various equipment without supervision.
  • Must maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Will attend and actively participate in daily safety meetings.
  • You will be responsible for completing daily PJRA/JSA, inspection reports, observation reports, and checklists.
  • May be required to work periodically in the shop to assist with various technician duties.
  • You will be required to wear proper PPE/FR's while working in the backyard.
  • Must always abide by safety protocols set by Stage 3 as well as the Client.
  • Must be able to use various hand and power tools to perform various maintenance tasks.
  • Understanding of a Safety Data Sheet and where to find the hazards.
  • Basic understanding of the Severity of chemicals.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Team player who can work independently.
  • Must be mechanically inclined with comprehension for electronics.
  • Will input routine data into various systems including company Portal.
  • Must have the ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and make use of time efficiently.
  • Must have ability to develop professional relationships with everyone working on the rig.
  • Must be customer service oriented, learning how to use diplomacy and tact.
  • Will independently operate safely, heavy machinery including an Excavator, Forklift or Wheel Loader.
  • Will carry valid safety certifications for various Rig Safety programs including PEC Safe Land, H2S, and CPR/First Aid.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (cold, wet, and hot).
  • Must have the ability to be away from home for 28 days or longer, to complete scheduled rotation (hitch).
  • Must keep living quarters clean, and orderly. As well as abide by "house rules" set by Stage 3.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend English.

Minimum Required Education, Credentials, Licenses and Experience:

  • High School diploma, or GED equivalent.
  • Must be 18+ years of age or older.
  • 2-year Associate's degree or technical diploma, in Technology, Electronics, or Mechanics, or similar field, is preferred.
  • Prior Forklift, Excavator, or Wheel Loader experience, or Certifications, is/are preferred. Certification training will be provided prior to working on a rig.
  • Basic Microsoft Office experience including Outlook.
  • Must have a valid State driver's license.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from assigned rig site locations.
  • This position is contingent upon successfully passing a background check which includes running a criminal history, pre-employment drug testing (hair follicle and urine), and fit for duty physical.
