Structural Engineer

As a Structural Engineer, you will engage in structural analysis for seismic and other load combinations, design equipment and piping supports, and develop structural frames and foundations. You will work with piping or pipe support analysis per ASME Section III or B31.1 design standards, and be involved in lifting assembly, rigging, or crane designs according to AISC steel and ACI concrete design codes. You'll also perform component stress analysis using tools like GTSTRUDL or ANSYS, conduct plant impact reviews, and evaluate existing structures for retrofitting.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct structural analysis for static or response spectra seismic and other load combinations.
  • Design equipment and piping supports, building structural frames, and foundations.
  • Perform piping or pipe support analysis per ASME Section III or B31.1 design standards.
  • Develop lifting assembly, rigging, or crane designs.
  • Apply AISC steel and ACI concrete design codes to your work.
  • Conduct component stress analysis using software such as GTSTRUDL or ANSYS.
  • Review and evaluate plant impacts.
  • Assess existing structures and develop retrofit type designs.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in structural design and analysis.
  • Understanding of AISC, ASCE, and related design codes.
  • Experience with Matlab and structural engineering design review.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience, ideally 7+ years, in design and analysis for nuclear power plants or industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of static structural analyses, structural dynamics, and seismic analysis.
  • Proficiency in MathCAD is preferred.
  • BS degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from a US-accredited college.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in report writing, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience in power plants, oil and gas, and LNG projects is advantageous.

Work Environment:

This is a fully remote position, reporting to either the Naperville, IL office or the Atlanta, GA office. The work schedule is Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., all times in Central Time. You can work from anywhere in the country. Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $90.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
