Food Service Worker II

Performs manual and routine duties in food service and/or kitchen areas. Responsible for the preparation and replenishment of food, and for custodial duties of the dining and kitchen areas. Duties are performed under close supervision and is reviewed while in progress or upon completion. Ability to perform physically demanding activity including lifting, walking, and stooping.

Travel Required: Up to 25%

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Knows and applies food safety policies and procedures for department.
  • Prepare a variety of foods such as meats, vegetables, desserts, according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures.
  • Take and record temperature of food and food storage areas such as refrigerators and freezers.
  • Exhibit thorough knowledge and ability in food preparation, equipment use, customer service, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Supervise, if assigned by immediate supervisor, and participate in kitchen and dining area activities.
  • Train workers in food preparation and in service, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Exhibits the ability to operate and clean food service equipment without supervision.
  • Exhibits the ability to control inventories of food, equipment, small wares and report shortages to designated personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn the care and use of basic food service equipment and kitchen utensils.
  • Ability to learn routine methods and practices of food preparation and services.
  • Ability to learn health hazards in food preparation, service and necessary precautionary measures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and supervisors.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions.

Required Qualifications: Completion of eighth grade plus one year experience. Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions.
