FOOD Service Worker

Child Development Center Food Service Position

This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Child Development Center. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of manual tasks in food preparation and food service areas.

Responsibilities include:

• Stocking carts with food and beverage items for room delivery.
• Setting up for meal times by placing uniform portions of food on dishes.
• Picking up dishes when meals are complete and returning food to the kitchen.
• Setting up and operating dishwashers, performing preventive maintenance and cleaning.
• Scraping, soaking, scouring, and scrubbing bowls, pots, and pans.
• Performing heavy duty cleaning tasks such as cleaning ceilings, exhaust hoods, under and behind kitchen equipment, washing floors and walls, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, and sanitizing garbage cans.
• May unload food from delivery trucks.
• Collecting and transferring trash from work area to disposal area.

Additional duties include:

• Preparing simple food items such as pizza, breadsticks, and cheese toast for snacks and delivering to classrooms.
• Cutting up fruits and vegetables.
• Making coffee, tea and other beverages.

Qualifications:

To qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below:

• Must be able to follow simple oral instructions.
• Be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operate simple machines.
• Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgment in sequencing tasks.
• Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning equipment and work area.
• Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop. Reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.
• Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of National Agency Check. This is a random drug testing position.
