Field Support Specialist

The Field Support Specialist will support the setup and training of layout field personnel across various job sites. Responsibilities include:

• Traveling to project locations for initial equipment setup and training on layout workflows (FieldLink, GNSS rovers, total stations)
• Managing equipment room inventory (tripods, iPads, layout kits)
• Assembling and deploying layout kits for job sites
• Assessing and communicating equipment needs for ordering and inventory management
• Training union field personnel on total station equipment and layout processes
• Verifying control provided by GC for use by field personnel
• Handling equipment logistics, including drop-off/pick-up to vendor service departments
• Collecting point cloud data as needed
• Communicating field challenges and escalating issues to management

Key Responsibilities:

• Travel to job sites for setup and training (3–4 days onsite per project)
• Manage equipment inventory and logistics (main tool room in Buda)
• Train and instruct field personnel (union teams) on technology and equipment
• Assess project needs and communicate with management for ordering
• Lift and transport equipment (up to 40 lbs)
• Support project setups with control points and creative problem-solving
• Maintain effective communication with project teams and management

Skills and Requirements Must Haves:

• Experience with total stations (Trimble preferred, other brands acceptable), FieldLink, and GNSS rovers
• Ability to manage equipment room (tripods, iPads, layout kits)
• Strong organizational and logistical skills
• Ability to assess and communicate equipment inventory needs for upcoming projects
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently to various job sites (Texas)
• Effective communication and instructional capabilities (training union field personnel)
• Background in surveying or licensed surveyor preferred, but not required
• Creative problem-solving skills; field experience and project setups with control points
• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 40 pounds

Plusses:

• Experience teaching/training field personnel
• Knowledge of point cloud data collection
• Familiarity with equipment drop-off/pick-up logistics
• Experience with project setup and control verification
