Building Engineer

Responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems for the assigned property(s). Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe working environment, performing rounds, conducting routine assessments, performing day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance, painting, and housekeeping for assigned properties.

Responsibilities

  • Execute all plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tasks required for the operation and maintenance of the facility.
  • Service and maintain heating systems, chillers (air and/or water-cooled), DX units, pumps, cooling towers, fan coil units, VAVs, and air distribution systems.
  • Monitor and adjust mechanical and pneumatic systems including steam stations, control gauges, distributor panels, valves, thermostats, and diffusers to ensure optimal comfort within the building.
  • Assess on-site conditions and perform necessary repairs or adjustments to maintain operational integrity.
  • Monitor building energy usage and support initiatives to improve efficiency.
  • Repair and maintain doors, ceilings, hand railings, floors, and other structural elements throughout the property.
  • Service plumbing fixtures such as toilets, urinals, flush valves, and lavatories.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks in line with standards, building protocols, manufacturer guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Regularly inspect engine rooms, fan rooms, cooling towers, motors, pumps, electric rooms, backup generators, fire pumps, sump, and ejector pumps.
  • Replace lamps and fixtures, reinstall or update signage, and ensure all rooms are clean and free of obstructions.
  • Verify emergency exit signs and lighting are operational.

Essential Skills

Expertise in Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems; Facility maintenance; Troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration systems and HVAC equipment; Experience with preventive maintenance and maintenance repair.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

System Management program knowledge; Experience in building maintenance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
