The mission of the Fleet Management Department is to provide the City of Houston with best value, fleet management services. To accomplish Fleet's mission and our vision of being recognized as the best managed fleet in the country, we are actively seeking an automotive service writer. The automotive service writer is a tier 1 position and can make an immediate impact and add value towards the achievement of these goals.
The automotive service writer duties include but is not limited to:
The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as gasoline and motor oil.
Educational Requirements: Requires a high school diploma or GED.
Experience Requirements: Two years of customer service experience are required, with at least six months in field of automotive repair. A certificate in automotive technology, acquired through 18 months of education or training, may substitute for the experience requirement.
License Requirements: May require a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the city of Houston's driving policy.
Preferences: Preference will be given to applicants with M-5 asset works fleet management system experience or any other fleet management software exposure. MS Office 360 or higher with two or more years of experience with Excel. Experience in SAP functions for requisitions, invoices and receivables will receive preference.
Selection/Skills Tests Required: The selection process will involve application review and/or interview. The department may administer a skill assessment.
