Assistant Director, Marketing & Experience

We are seeking an innovative and collaborative Assistant Director to lead the Marketing & Experience team at the LBJ Student Center. This role is a unique blend of strategic marketing, brand management, and operational leadership, focused on creating an engaging and dynamic experiences for students, staff, alumni, and visitors. This position directly supervises a marketing coordinator and a graduate student and indirectly supervises student employees. You will guide our marketing initiatives, enhance the user experience, and drive revenue through George's, a popular hangout spot in the LBJ Student Center, and the future concepts of Boko's Living Room.

Job Duties

Marketing Strategy and Brand Management 30%:

  • Establish and monitor annual goals related to digital, social, and print strategies in alignment with the University's marketing and communications team.
  • Manage social media, website content, and digital marketing efforts ensuring consistent and impactful messaging across all platforms.
  • Develop innovative methods to reach new guests while engaging and retaining the existing student population.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and applicable regulations for on campus marketing and events.

Enhanced Student Center Experience 30%:

  • Develop and execute revenue-generating marketing strategies within George's and Boko's Living Room while providing strategic oversight.
  • Cultivate key relationships with campus stakeholders to foster collaborative programs while providing superior customer service and an engaging activities.
  • Plan and oversee in-venue daily operations, services, and collaborations within George's.

Team Management and Development 20%:

  • Provide support and direction to the Marketing and Experience team including a marketing coordinator, graduate student, and indirectly supervise student employees.
  • Manage the marketing and experience budget, including purchasing, staffing costs, and revenue monitoring.
  • Lead regular meetings, conduct trainings, and develop training manuals and resources.

Collaboration and Data Analysis 10%:

  • Partner with Event Services to develop promotional/upsell opportunities.
  • Collaborate with campus departments, student organizations, and external partners to develop programs and activities that boost traffic and create memorable experiences at the student center.
  • Ensure a team culture of making data-driven marketing decisions by gathering and analyzing feedback from students and visitors to improve services.

Administrative 10%:

  • Serve as a vital member of the LBJ Student Center leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and executing special projects.
  • Represent the department on relevant committees, actively participating and reporting updates to the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Be able to work a flexible work schedule; some evenings and weekends as required or deemed important for effectiveness.
