The eBeam technology represents a major breakthrough in packaging sterilisation, enabling high-speed production, reduced operational costs, and significant reductions in the use of chemicals, water, and energy. We are looking for talented people across multiple areas—Development, Engineering, Production, and Supplier Management—to help drive the evolution of our eBeam system for today's and tomorrow's filling equipment.

The Automation & Electronics Integration Engineer is responsible for the integration, calibration, and troubleshooting of eBeam systems within automated filling machines and E3 platform environments. The role combines expertise in analog and digital electronics, industrial sensors, automation, software, and field support. A strong troubleshooting mindset and hands-on laboratory and field experience are essential for ensuring system performance, reliability, and integration quality. This is a permanent position, based in Modena-Italy. For knowledge transfer from Flamatt site, travel to Switzerland is required at the beginning of the assignment.

In the new role as Automation Engineer, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Act as the automation integration interface between the eBeam System and Filling Machines (FMs) on the E3 platform.
  • Support the integration functions already developed between the eBeam system and FMs, including hardware and software interfaces.
  • Provide technical support for integration-related issues, ensuring correct system functionality.
  • Define, select, and validate electrical components for the Dose Calibration Tool (DCT).
  • Support design and build activities for DCT electrical systems intended for supplier production.
  • Troubleshoot DCT-related issues, including signal acquisition and transducer interfacing.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for: eBeam system hardware and software; Integration functions between systems; DMD transducer signals and measurement chains.
  • Analyze failures and malfunctions using structured diagnostic approaches in both lab and field environments.
  • Support field activities when required, including on-site troubleshooting and validation.
  • Work with measurement sensors for gas and liquid flow, pressure, and temperature.
  • Perform electronic measurements using laboratory instruments for analog, digital, and high-voltage systems.
  • Support data logging and statistical analysis of lamp and system performance in the field.
  • Contribute to performance evaluations and continuous improvement based on collected data.

We believe you have:

  • Degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Automation or equivalent technical field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in industry, laboratory testing, and system validation.
  • Proven experience with industrial measurements and sensors (flow, speed, pressure, temperature).
  • Experience in data logging, data analysis, and field performance statistics.
  • Strong expertise in analog (small signal), digital, and high-voltage electronics.
  • Skilled in laboratory measurements and use of test instruments.
  • Solid background in electronics applied to industrial machinery and automation.
  • Programming experience in ANSI C and LabVIEW.
  • PLC programming experience with: Rockwell Automation platforms and Beckhoff systems (including logging modules)
  • Hands-on experience with eBeam system hardware and software on the E3 platform.
  • Strong understanding of automatic machinery and filling machine systems.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Strong troubleshooting attitude with a practical, hands-on mindset.
  • Good networking and collaboration skills across departments and suppliers.
