Major Responsibilities

This position is responsible for routine assignments following specific detailed instructions or established standards and methods.

  • Performs a wide variety of assignments and studies under the guidance of a more experienced employee.
  • Makes sketches, drawings or other graphic aids.
  • Prepares detailed calculations, technical instructions and design reports.
  • Assists in field test specifications and operating procedures.
  • Functions as liaison within the Division regarding problems encountered in design, fabrication, erection, or maintenance.
  • Performance of the above duties is designed to acquaint the incumbent with the Company's method of operation, company policy, procedures and products so that he may perform more advanced duties.

Educational Requirements

B.S. or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Requirements

Four (4) years related assignments.

Additional Job Duties and Responsibilities

Assists and supports engineering management in various duties associated with schedule management, coordination, tracking and cost accounting, technical writing, and contractor oversite. May include duties or activities that assist and support management of engineering projects. Will include duties and responsibilities in one or more of the following functional areas:

  • Communicate and coordinate with customer and engineering personnel to successfully execute contracts and business obligations.
  • Compose and edit technical reports to meet high standards for quality of engineering documents.
  • Assist in identifying and coordinating resource needs to support design and project completion.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting of accruals to finance and accounting and program management.
  • Assist the director and deputy director with schedule and administrative duties.
  • Route and track SAP invoices for approval.
  • Prepare and submit capital forecasting and capital requests.
  • Prepare materials for reporting status of engineering products and schedules.
  • Prepare procurement packages as needed to support engineering projects.
  • Accumulate and compile accurate cost data to prepare budgets and updates to forecasts.
  • Assist multiple managers on various activities relating to project and technical work.
  • Participate in the coordination and scheduling of customer meetings.
  • Support analysis of engineering performance.
  • Work with engineering staff and customer to schedule, plan and execute programmatic reviews of contract performance.

  • Is familiar with working in a highly regulated industrial environment with direct customer and regulator oversite.

  • Can complete a variety of atypical assignments as needed and provide solutions to problems to reduce the chances of recurrence with a limited degree of supervision.
  • Can work within defined processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the approach for new assignments.
  • Can act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has the ability to work within a multi-disciplined and technically oriented team.
  • Has developed skills that allow working in a technical working group to apply analytical/scientific method or operational process to perform a variety of activities.

BWXT Grade Level: 4.2

Pay: $54,000 - $80,000

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $54,000 and $80,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
