Position Overview:

Develop, implement and audit quality assurance and quality control to assure compliance to customer requirements or national standards. Maintain the quality of specific products; control (and be knowledgeable of) procedures, analysis, documents and system requirements for the products. Perform system evaluations to assure compliance with customer, regulatory or internal specifications. Continually strive for improved quality standards that shall lower total costs of products and processes at NFS.

Location: Onsite in Erwin, TN

Your Day to Day as a Quality Engineer 3:

  • Coordinate production, laboratory, analytical data, statistical analysis to assure timely release of raw materials, in-process materials, and final product which meets specifications.
  • Maintain, coordinate, verify the quality of analytical reports, record retention, product sampling, personnel qualifications non-conformance control, quality trends, etc.
  • Review contract specs to ascertain quality requirements; prepare support information for approval submittals to customers; review LOAs, SOPs, shipping documents, and other internal procedures/documents to assure compliance to all quality requirements; prepare, review Certifications of Final Product.
  • Prepare, review statistical evaluations, process control charts, and process improvement techniques; make appropriate recommendations to management.
  • Plan, perform, and follow-up audits and system evaluations of production, QA, QC, calibration, security, materials control, safety, ALARA, Fitness-for-Duty Program, and vendor QA/QC.
  • Supervise, maintain, coordinate the control and calibration of measurements, inspection, and test equipment for the process and laboratory areas.
  • Coordinate, maintain off-site analytical services, laboratory qualification, customer cross-checks schedules, nuclear materials vault (quality retention).
  • Coordinate (with internal/external organizations) shipping schedules, in-house/off-site analytical services, inventory preparations, and vendor audits. Initiate, recommend projects to achieve better quality for less cost.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science OR Bachelor of Arts degree with two additional years of experience in QA/QC. Six-eight years' experience in quality assurance or quality control (8 years without Engineering Degree) is needed to attain adequate knowledge and competence to fulfill the duties of Quality Engineer 3. If an individual is an ASQC-certified quality engineer or certified quality auditor, four years of Quality Engineering experience (six without Engineering Degree) is acceptable.

BWXT Grade Level: 7.1

Pay: $76,000 - $116,000

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000 and $116,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
