Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role involves contributing to new product design and development activities, improving current product designs, and preparing design documentation. The successful candidate will manage design projects using prescribed tools and participate in the full development cycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities for current product design improvements and implement those changes.
  • Prepare design documentation for new products and components, including drawings, engineering specifications, and test reports.
  • Manage the priority of Engineering Change Notices (ECN) within the department.
  • Design products and components using tools such as QFD, CAD, DFMA, and DFMEA, adhering to ISO9001 standards.
  • Participate in the full development cycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, implementation, validation, documentation, and support.
  • Conduct assembly and component design, including concept generation, 3D modeling, material selection, and stress analysis.
  • Hold design reviews and conduct validation tests such as salt spray, lifecycle, and tolerance validation.
  • Manage Bill of Materials for production assemblies.
  • Develop and design test procedures to verify designs and improvements.
  • Research and develop systems solutions for identified market opportunities.
  • Develop project plans, coordinate activities, and report on project status.
  • Work in multi-functional teams for new product development, including program and product management, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management, and production.
  • Interact with customers and suppliers.
  • Assist in applications support and troubleshooting as required.
  • Occasionally travel to key customers for install reviews and customer visits.
  • Complete additional job duties as assigned.

Essential Skills:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Minimum internship or co-op experience
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • BSc. in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering (other disciplines may be accepted)
  • Strong experience in specifying and designing electromechanical systems
  • Demonstrated experience in product performance testing and evaluation
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience and understanding of GD&T
  • Knowledge of plumbing standards (IAPMO, CSA) is an asset
  • CFD and FEA knowledge considered an asset
  • Coding/programming experience is a plus
  • Engineering Change Notice (ECN) experience
  • FEA Analysis & Simulation Experience

Work Environment:

The position involves working in a collaborative environment with multi-functional teams. The role may require occasional travel to customer locations for installations and reviews. The work will primarily be conducted using modern engineering tools and adhering to industry standards.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Sparta, Tennessee.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
