Pharmacy Technician

Assist licensed pharmacists in day-to-day pharmacy operations, including dispensing and packaging medications, in compliance with local, state, federal, and organizational regulations. Perform prepacking duties, including preparation of equipment, application of barcode-compliant labels, packaging of medications, and execution of quality control protocols to ensure accuracy and safety. Monitor and manage inventory through stock control procedures, including stock level audits, verification of expiration dates, stock file maintenance, and internal stock transfers. Ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and functionality of the fulfillment area by performing regular cleaning tasks and assisting in the maintenance of equipment and materials. Demonstrate a strong understanding of and adherence to loss prevention techniques and inventory security protocols. Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by regulatory bodies and internal policies. Communicate effectively with pharmacy staff and other departments to ensure a high level of service and operational efficiency. Support a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and reporting workflow inefficiencies or safety concerns.

This position does not include supervisory or managerial responsibilities.

Education, Licensure or Certification: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of pharmacy technician training program is a plus.

Work Experience or Related Experience: Minimum of six (6) months of experience in a pharmacy or healthcare-related environment preferred. Strong organizational skills and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Professional demeanor with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and teamwork.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Proficiency in basic math, including pharmaceutical calculations and conversions. Familiarity with medication names (brand and generic), dosage forms, and medical terminology. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient and proprietary information. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Ability to learn and navigate pharmacy management software and barcode scanning systems.

This position does not require travel.

Work is performed in a climate-controlled, indoor, smoke-free pharmacy or warehouse environment. Fast-paced environment and frequent exposure to deadlines and time-sensitive tasks.

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally. Manual dexterity and visual acuity required to operate equipment, handle medications, and perform detailed tasks. Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear and respond to spoken instructions in a typical work environment. May be required to work extended or flexible hours based on business needs.
