Patient Care Technician

Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse. Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care through the initiation/completion of procedures relating to basic human, mental health and social needs; comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid needs; and elimination needs. Measures vitals signs, interprets cardiac monitoring strips, identifies dysrhythmias, documents monitoring strips and reports information to the registered nurse. Performs ECGs, venipuncture, capillary blood glucose testing, and unit secretary, patient transport and environment of care duties.

Education:

Other Successful completion of Nurses Aide/Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation program or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing Care Course in a Registered Professional Nurse program. Required

High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred

Experience:

General experience as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, monitor technician and/or unit secretary. Preferred

General experience as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, monitor technician, phlebotomist and/or unit secretary - for Medical Telemetry Preferred
