Job Description

Summary

Responsible for technical functions in support of engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment. Applications may include analog, digital and/or video circuits and logic systems. Will apply principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing, and physics, as applicable. Conducts engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data or assist in research work. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment. Utilizes manufacturing test, development or diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, VOD, DVM, signal generators and specialized test apparatus. Usually works under direction of engineering staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include The Following, But Not Limited To:

• Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with engineers or management and draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
• Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
• Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.
• Sets up standard test apparatus or devises to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.
• Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.
• Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
• Reads blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components.
• Performs preventative maintenance or calibration of equipment or systems.
• Adjusts or replaces defective or improperly functioning circuitry or electronics components, using hand tools or soldering iron.
• Identifies and resolves equipment malfunctions, working with external and/or internal sources as necessary to procure replacement parts.
• May maintain system logs or manuals to document testing or operation of equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required and 1-2 years of experience in a directly related field.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Range: $34,700.00-$46,300.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
