The preparation of equipment configurations and validation of configurations for new installations, changes within the network, software upgrades for Campus Switches
Understand equipment capabilities to follow fault diagnosis procedures to support effective fault resolution for Campus Switches
Understand equipment capabilities to follow network operational support procedures related to Campus Switches
Support of the network environment to include assessing the health of the hardware and software infrastructure for Campus Switches
Network related testing to ensure installation follows established guidelines and capabilities for Campus Switches
Implementation, integration & migration planning and operational support for Campus Switches
Troubleshooting of network issues at layers 1, 2, & 3 of the OSI Network model
Ongoing, informal, knowledge transfer for Campus Switches
Open OEM TAC cases and work with vendor engineers to resolve issues
Open and track RMA cases for defective networking gear
Submission of problem reports to Resident Engineer (RE)
Accurately plan & record switch installation data
Ad-hoc written summary reports on equipment and network problems
Ability to follow equipment test plans and provide documented results
Configuration expertise on proposed platform to include all Campus Switches
Develop installation Network diagrams
Operations and support procedures
Technical input to major service outage root cause analysis and corrective action reports
Respond to and resolve trouble ticket escalations via VA Ticketing System and MS Teams support channel
Support and planning for equipment migrations
Scripted cutover procedures
Go/No-Go Criteria for migration and cutovers
Use miscellaneous scripting support using OEM solution
Document the process for the bulk importing of data or any other data transfers
Assist testing the development of automation tools to enhance the network operational environment
Travel to equipment test site for training as needed
Travel to a site for up to 3 weeks per, including weekends month
Required Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of functional and technical experience with implementing and replacing access switches in a large campus network environment
Experience with operations, maintenance and troubleshooting of large complex networks
Firm understanding of the OSI Network model, layers 1, 2, & 3
Experience with troubleshooting end device connectivity issues with access layer switches, from both Web UI and command line interface (CLI)
Experience with Juniper software preferred
Experience with Juniper Mist Web UI a plus
Knowledge of EVPN-VXLAN, IP Clos architecture, and Edge Routed Bridging a plus
Be familiar with MS Word and Excel applications
Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, co-workers and team lead
Must be able to work as part of a team with management, other engineers and technicians in a fast-paced environment
Need to possess attention to detail, be able to multi-task and learn quickly
Must be willing and able to travel up to 75% of the time
Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation to include checks of law enforcement records, credit history, and inquiries about previous employment and education.
Must have a Real ID state driver's license (unrestricted)
Must undergo (company paid) and pass two stage Tuberculosis (TB) testing
Must have good communication skills
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management required
