R&D/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEER II

The R&D Product DVL engineer II will report to the Product Development Team leader, Energy and will be a member of the Product Design team and responsible for design and developing of connectors products for LV, MV & HV applications. and engineering support for existing products to sustain in the competitive market. The role will support one of TE Energy's product lines including Cable Accessories, Insulation & Protection and Connectors & fittings for LV, MV & HV applications.
Responsibilities:
- Designing TE Energy products for LV, MV & HV applications using polymeric, elastomeric, and metallic materials, Cable & Assembly.
- Meticulously work on new product introduction (NPI) with very minimal supervision.
- Develop state of the art concepts for NPI projects.
- Develop prototypes for concepts developed.
- Design hand calculations and verification using FEA.
- Preparing design verification test plans, Design & Process FMEAs.
- Work with supplier to develop tools for mass production with minimal assistance.
- Create and maintain production drawings using Creo.
- Design of jigs & fixtures for product testing where required.
- Product Data management of BOMs, routings etc.
- Support product compliance and approvals for all new products and platforms as required by our customers.
- Be a strong technical partner and provide support to Product management teams. Attend/support customer meetings, technology days and site visits as required.
- Assist Energy's global engineering teams with New Product Developments across a range of projects and executing on cost optimization/reduction (VA/VE) opportunities for the business.
- Reverse Engineering competitor products.
- Recording results of design reviews and design decision meetings and report writing.
Desired Candidate Profile:
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or higher.
- Organized, methodical and self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal support on own initiative and meet own commitments is essential.
- Experience in complete product development process
- Experience with product design of high-voltage power networks and/or network accessories (joints/splices, terminations Switchgear connect, Insulators, surge arrestors, etc.) added advantage.
- 5 -10 years product development experience.
- Knowledge in product design of plastic/rubber, Sheetmetal components, e.g. thermoset moulding or rubber moulding
- Knowledge of Project management skills an added advantage.
- Experience with Creo.
- Knowledge in 3D scanning, 3D printing an advantage.
- Experience in reverse engineering.
- LDFSS or DMAIC 6-sigma yellow or green belt an advantage.
- Experience in SAP, PDMLink or other product data management environment.
- Proficient in MS Office suite.
- Willingness to travel.
- Fluent English.
