The R&D/Product Development Engineer will be part of the product development team, responsible for developing individual products or technical elements for low-to-medium complexity projects. The role will specifically support the development of low-voltage infotainment connectors.
Support in creating product proposals (low to medium complexity) for customers.
Create and modify CAD models and drawings; provide design support to senior engineers/supervisors.
Collaborate with the simulation team and interpret results for product design.
Create and update product specifications.
Evaluate manufactured products through first article inspection reports.
Execute and manage design change requests (engineering change management).
Coordinate and resolve technical issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Implement design changes based on DFM (Design for Manufacturability) feedback.
Assist in conducting DVP (Design Verification Plan) and refining product designs.
Contribute to PV (Product Validation) planning, testing, and documentation.
Analyze prototype samples and contribute to design refinement.
B.E/B.Tech: Minimum 2+ years of experience in product development or engineering support.
Proficiency with CAD systems (CREO part modeling & sheet metal).
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/product prints.
Ability to interpret simulation results and apply insights to product design.
Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM – Molding/Stamping/Plating) and DFMEA.
Strong skills in tolerance stack-up and GD&T.
Solid conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience in product development, validation, and prototyping methods.
Understanding of linear and non-linear analysis.
Knowledge of product lifecycle management and ability to deliver high-quality design outputs.
Basic knowledge of quality tools (8D, 5 Why analysis, Fishbone, etc.).
Hands-on experience designing with plastics and sheet metal components.
Functional – Preferred
Ability to train others in product development/engineering tools.
Knowledge of injection molding and high-speed stamping processes.
Exposure to low-voltage connectors and RF technologies.
Familiarity with validation standards (USCAR, LV214, or similar).
Knowledge of crimping, ultrasonic welding, and laser welding technologies.
Ability to collaborate effectively across multicultural and cross-functional teams.
