Manager, Governance & Operations

The Manager, Governance & Operations will report to the Senior Manager, Risk Information Services. This position will primarily work in partnership with Technology and Data Risk Management (TDRM) colleagues to provide executive communications planning and execution support for board and risk committee reporting and related activities.

The role's accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead board and risk committee communication strategy, planning and execution to support senior executive-level updates.
  • Interface with TDRM executives and senior management to aggregate and develop content to support communication on the management of technology, cybersecurity and data risks across the enterprise.
  • Create compelling communication materials including executive decks, memos, and presentations, using crisp clear language relevant to the intended audience.
  • Provide guidance and advice to TDRM colleagues related to executive/board-level risk reporting.
  • Maintain lateral view and alignment across multiple reports and risk domains.
  • Drive continuous improvement in TDRM's risk reporting.

Job Requirements:

  • Exceptional written, verbal and visual communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with all levels within TD.
  • Experience in operational risk management and reporting, and governance and oversight of internal teams, preferably at a large financial institution.
  • Experience with global systemically important banks or other global financial institutions.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship management skills working with all levels of employees and executives.
  • Possess solid relationship management skills and the ability to influence without direct authority; effective conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to digest complex information and summarize in a clear, concise fashion (for executive-level consumption).
  • Strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently and as part of a larger team with a proven track record of delivering results by demonstrating the ability to take independent action.
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, pro-active self-starter – willing to "roll up the sleeves" to deliver results in the short-term while building for the long-term; agile, adaptable, 'can-do' attitude, high degree of responsiveness and initiative.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and desire to learn.
  • Strong ability and confidence to identify areas of improvement and assess impacts.
  • Skilled in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence in a risk management context is an asset.

Additional Information:

  • Seven or more years of relevant experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline, is an asset.
