From concept to creation to manufacturing, we infuse trend, quality, and innovation into everything we do, building brands that surprise and delight millions of consumers.

As Director Of Fabric Engineering, you will set the vision and lead a team of fabric engineers to deliver Target's material-first strategy across apparel and soft home. You'll drive innovation, sustainability, and technical excellence in textiles and finishing, while ensuring our fabrics meet the highest standards of quality, value, and traceability for use in Target's owned brand products.

This role requires a strategic leader and change agent who thrives on collaboration, respects diverse perspectives, and can communicate and influence across functions and geographies. You will partner closely with Merchants, Design, Sourcing, Quality teams, Vendors, and Suppliers to shape fabric strategies that enable speed, affordability, flexibility, and differentiation for Target's Owned Brands.

Core Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
  • Industry Engagement
  • Team & Culture
  • Cross-Functional Influence

Success Profile

  • Strategic agility: able to think big-picture and dive into detail when needed.
  • Horizontal leadership: skilled in building trust and influence across cross functional teams and geographies.
  • Change leadership: proven ability to drive transformation and navigate ambiguity.
  • Inclusive leadership: respects diverse perspectives and inspires high-performing teams.
  • Critical thinking: data-driven, analytical, and adept at solving complex problems.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years in fabric engineering, textile development, sourcing, or supply chain leadership (raw-materials expertise strongly preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of textiles, fibers, finishing, and raw materials supply chains.
  • Strong understanding of design, product development, and sustainability practices.
  • Experience leading culturally diverse teams and fostering inclusion.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, resources, and global partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
