As we open our new home base in Columbia, South Carolina, we are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Packaging Design Engineer to join our team of professionals. As an industry leader in sustainable and innovative packaging solutions, we design and manufacture custom packaging materials and systems that combine performance, environmental responsibility, and efficiency. As we enter a growth phase, our Packaging Design Engineer will play a key role in designing innovative packaging solutions that are functional, sustainable, and cost-effective. Working closely with production, sales, and customers, this position involves hands-on production of prototypes used for functional verification.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Create high-quality, sustainable, and cost-effective packaging designs.
- Develop project proposals tailored to customer needs and industry standards.
- Ensure designs meet regulatory and environmental compliance.
- Prioritize projects based on customer value and production capabilities.
- Understand and design within production limitations to ensure feasibility.
- Use design software (AutoCAD and Inventor). Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, Catia, etc. is a plus.
- Provide technical support during customer projects.
- Operate cutting tables and hand printers.
- Participate in prototype assembly and shipping.
- Work closely with production teams to improve design integration.
- Keep CRM system updated with accurate project and customer data.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to prioritize and plan upcoming work.
- Support new team members through onboarding and training.
- Contribute to recruiting efforts and foster a collaborative, high-performing, team culture.
- Assist in organizing and preparing for trade shows (domestic and international).
- Help improve internal routines and documentation.
- Track performance metrics and suggest improvements.
- Periodic travel for project meetings.
Successful Candidates Must Have:
- At least 21 years of age.
- Driver's license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Degree or proven experience in Technical Product Development or Engineering.
- Proficiency in Inventor and AutoCAD (other CAD tools are a plus).
- Ability to travel periodically for project meetings.
- Strong mathematical and technical understanding.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- Passion for product development and cost analysis.
- A strong eye for detail and accuracy.
- The ability to solve technical challenges efficiently.
- Adaptability to change priorities and project scopes.
- A collaborative mindset and "team-first" attitude.
- High functional competence in packaging design and development.
- Background in packaging development or automotive industry is a plus.
