Food Service Worker

The Food Service Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient preparation and delivery of nutritious meals within the Williams Bay MS HS community. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation while preparing and serving meals that meet dietary guidelines. The role requires adaptability to accommodate varying meal service demands and the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff and school personnel. The Food Service Worker contributes to a positive dining experience by demonstrating care and creativity in meal presentation and customer interaction. Ultimately, this position supports the health and well-being of students and staff by providing consistent, quality food service in a safe and welcoming environment.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and serve meals according to established menus and portion sizes while adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
  2. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
  3. Assist in receiving and storing food supplies, ensuring proper rotation and inventory management.
  4. Communicate effectively with team members and school staff to coordinate meal service and accommodate special dietary needs.
  5. Stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as lifting, carrying, and operating kitchen equipment safely.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform manual tasks required in a kitchen environment.
  • Previous experience in food preparation or service is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated reliability and flexibility to work varied shifts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe).
  • Experience working in a school or institutional food service setting.
  • Ability to creatively contribute to meal presentation and menu suggestions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage positively with students and staff.
