Special Consultant Position

Are you engaged, outgoing, curious, and at the same time structured? Are you motivated by collaborating with and providing qualified support to both scientists, management, and partners in their application work for various research and education projects? Then you might be the one we are looking for in this exciting special consultant position with great flexibility and many development opportunities.

We are looking for an experienced and committed project developer, networker, and research supporter who, in collaboration with scientists and administrative colleagues, will be part of the institute's new research support team. The new team is a strategic investment that will support colleagues in their work with foundation applications with the goal of increasing the funds received in larger projects.

You will be employed in the secretariat of the Institute of Business and Sustainability (IBS), which is an internationally oriented business economics institute, organized in 8 research groups, distributed over three campuses – in Esbjerg, Sønderborg, and Kolding. IBS is home to researchers in such diverse fields as B2B Marketing, Organization and Management, Business Promotion, Supply Chain & Risk Resilience, Public-Private Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Resource Economists, Sustainability, and Digitalization, so it will be a broad spectrum of research areas that you will work with.

As a research supporter at IBS, you will also be part of the faculty's overall Research Support Team (RSO) at SAMF. Here you will have access points and close collaboration with both the central SAMF Research Support Unit and the other "institute research supporters" employed at the other institutes, where you together contribute to the common task and goal, but in different parts and tasks.

As a new special consultant with us, you will:

  • Support our scientists in the maturation of project ideas and projects
  • Support and facilitate consortium composition
  • Identify and possibly participate in relevant networks
  • Coordinate work on larger applications
  • Create synergies between scientists and project ideas
  • Facilitate the research groups' work in developing funding strategies and plans for research groups and individual scientists
  • Contribute to the development of the institute's application pipeline
  • Actively participate in the internal network of research supporters at the faculty of social sciences

Depending on your background and profile, we expect you to additionally engage and spend about half of your time on one or more activities such as:

  • Manage/coordinate larger externally funded projects
  • Actively participate in various research projects as project applicant and/or participant

We thus expect you to actively contribute to financing part of your position by participating in funded projects as either project leader, coordinator, or in different project work. It must specifically appear from your application how you plan to contribute to this and where your strengths lie.

In-depth knowledge of the university world, the funding landscape, and the institute's academic profile is of course an advantage. It is also an advantage if you have insight and experience with various EU instruments (Horizon, Interreg, Erasmus+, etc.), as the institute wishes to strengthen cross-border cooperation. Finally, it is an advantage if you have concrete experience with knowledge work in one of the three focus areas that the Faculty of Social Sciences has designated, see:

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is curious, accommodating, and at the same time has a structured approach to tasks. Your communication, networking, and collaboration skills are good, and you master (at minimum) Danish and English in writing and speaking. German will be an advantage, as many of our collaboration projects involve German partners.

In addition, we expect you to:

  • Have a relevant educational background
  • Experience with research or other knowledge work
  • Be a team player who is good at collaborating and coordinating across the board
  • Independently take responsibility for your tasks and responsibilities and follow them through to the end
  • Be a good colleague who contributes to the good working environment and well-being

We can offer

  • An independent job with challenges and good opportunities for professional and personal development
  • An active and inspiring environment with an emphasis on collaboration, community, and knowledge sharing
  • Activities in close collaboration with the rest of SDU and outside the house
  • An informal social tone in a professional and good working environment
  • An opportunity to bring your competencies into play as we together decide how tasks and responsibilities are best structured and solved
  • A dynamic workplace in a small team where your ideas are heard, and your efforts make a difference
