Aquatic Invasive Species And Boat Safety Ranger

Participants major duties will include aquatic invasive species inspections and boat safety inspections. Additional duties may include assisting park rangers with fee compliance, monitoring visitor use and compliance, invasive species management, water quality testing, and minor maintenance and repair to park facilities. The position goal is to expose the participant to the full range of duties that a Corps of Engineers ranger performs.

Location Abiquiu, NM

Schedule May 25, 2026 - September 11, 2026

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Aquatic invasive species inspections and boat safety inspections
  • Patrol with park rangers to check fee compliance and other regulation compliance
  • Natural resource monitoring and management

Marginal Duties

  • Minor maintenance or repair to park facilities including fence repair, landscape maintenance, painting, or watering
  • Participation in park ranger presentations to campers

Required Qualifications

  • Valid US drivers license
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • 18 years or older

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly

Experience working with young people

Hours

40 per week

Living Accommodations

House on site within 5 minute walk to office. Participant would have a private bedroom in a shared house with two other occupants. Furnishing is not provided

Compensation

  • $650/week Living Allowance
  • NTE $650 Relocation travel reimbursement (if not local already)
  • Housing Provided on site

All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
