The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in overseeing the maintenance operations of the hotel, ensuring all building systems—including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, electrical, and energy controls—are functioning efficiently and safely. This role assists with supervising maintenance staff, coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance programs, and ensuring that hotel facilities remain in excellent condition to support guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Provide professional and courteous guest service at all times.
Assist in supervising maintenance operations including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, A/C units, lighting, and fire/life safety systems.
Support monitoring and management of energy consumption (electric, gas, oil, water) to maintain operational efficiency.
Assist in coordinating and overseeing contracted services such as electrical, plumbing, and specialized maintenance work.
Supervise maintenance technicians as assigned, including assisting with training, scheduling, and daily work assignments.
Ensure work orders and maintenance requests are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Assist with preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, and hotel equipment.
Coordinate with Housekeeping, Front Office, and Security departments to ensure smooth daily operations and adherence to safety procedures.
Support the Chief Engineer in project planning, vendor coordination, and maintenance-related improvements.
Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining department equipment and tools.
Ensure maintenance areas, workshops, and storage spaces remain organized and compliant with safety standards.
Respond to maintenance emergencies and assist with troubleshooting building system issues.
Attend meetings and provide updates on maintenance activities as required by the Chief Engineer or General Manager.

Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in hotel maintenance, engineering, or facilities management.
Working knowledge of building systems including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
Ability to assist with supervising maintenance staff and coordinating daily departmental operations.
Basic knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and building safety standards.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond effectively to maintenance issues.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and hotel management.
Familiarity with workplace safety standards and emergency procedures.
Work involves both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying temperatures.
Frequent walking, standing, climbing ladders, and lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
Exposure to noise, vibration, and mechanical equipment during maintenance tasks.
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, with possible on-call responsibilities for emergencies.
