Assistant Area Director of Sales

Location: Aurora, Colorado

FLSA: Exempt

Status: Full-time

Reports to: Area Director of Sales and Marketing

Supervises: Property Sales Department

Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 yearly salary plus bonus

Job Summary: The Assistant Area Director of Sales supports the sales efforts for a cluster of hotels, assisting in the execution of strategic sales and marketing initiatives to maximize revenue and guest satisfaction. This role involves managing a sales team, soliciting business from designated markets, and acting in the absence of the Area Director of Sales to ensure successful sales operations across multiple hotel brands.

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Assist the Director of Sales in executing strategic sales and marketing plans to maximize hotel service and profitability.
  • Manage and solicit designated market segments, focusing on corporate group business for multiple hotel brands.
  • Support the daily operation of the sales team, ensuring budgeted revenue goals and pre-booking targets are met.
  • Train new Sales department employees and ensure team policies and procedures are followed.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to develop and implement effective pricing and selling strategies.
  • Promote and sell the products and services of multiple hotel brands through direct client contact and sales efforts.
  • Participate in sales trips, off-property functions, and customer entertainment as needed.
  • Assist in developing the annual goals, marketing plan, and budget for the sales department and hotels.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing training on performance benchmarks and budgets.
  • Coordinate with General Managers to improve revenue and market share for all properties.
  • Participate in market and regional sales blitzes and analyze business opportunities.
  • Assist in conducting rate strategy meetings and provide competitor and market analysis to support decision-making.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hotel sales experience, with experience managing a sales team.
  • Strong knowledge of sales strategies, revenue management, and market analysis.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute sales and marketing plans to meet revenue goals.
  • Experience in multi-property or cluster sales management is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interacting with clients and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems, with experience in Sales Pro or similar software preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced, multi-property environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based work with frequent travel between properties to meet clients and attend events.
  • Frequent interaction with clients, team members, and property leadership, requiring flexibility in communication and scheduling.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business and client needs.
