Institutionen för biokemi och biofysik. SciLifeLab is a national center for molecular biosciences with a focus on research in health and the environment. The center combines leading technical expertise with advanced knowledge in translational medicine and molecular biosciences. SciLifeLab is a national resource operated by Stockholm University, Karolinska Institutet, KTH, and Uppsala University.
Administratively, the position will be placed at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Stockholm University. For more information about our activities, see our website: www.dbb.su.se
Postdoctoral positions are available in Emil Marklund's research lab, housed at SciLifeLab campus Solna in Stockholm. In the Marklund lab, we investigate how the sequence of biological macromolecules governs recognition, binding, and dynamic structure. We combine high-throughput measurements of molecular binding with simulations and quantitative modeling to gain a physical understanding of life at the molecular level.
We recruit Postdocs who want to use and develop state-of-the-art methods to study binding and dynamic structure of DNA, RNA, and proteins. Scientific questions in the project may include, for example, studying specificity in transcription factor-DNA binding, detecting protein-protein interactions, or enzyme optimization.
The selected candidate will use and develop methods within one, or preferably several, of the following categories:
You will participate in designing the project according to the overarching goals of the lab and you will be responsible for its execution. We are a multidisciplinary lab and you will be encouraged to collaborate with other scientists in the team.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoc, you must have a completed doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. The degree must have been completed by the time the employment decision is made.
It is meritorious if the doctoral degree or equivalent is completed at most three years before the last application day. If there are special reasons, an earlier completed degree may also be considered meritorious. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, trust assignments within trade union organizations, military service, or other similar circumstances. Clinical service or service/assignments relevant to the subject area are also considered.
Special weight will be given to scientific skill within the categories listed above, with particular emphasis on skill in biophysics, molecular biology, biochemistry, optical techniques, and deep machine learning.
We also want you to have these qualities:
The position is full-time and is valid for the time being, but at least two years and up to three years, with the possibility of extension if there are special reasons. Start date according to agreement.
We offer the dynamics of the interaction between higher education and research that makes Stockholm University an exciting and creative environment. You will work in an international environment and receive favorable conditions.
Stockholm University is committed to being a workplace free from discrimination and to providing equal rights and opportunities for all.
