12 weeks training, the first few weeks you will work on Mon - Fri, 10am - 6pm. Thereafter, training will continue during your regular shift hours which will be on a 0 Hours Contract, within Tue - Sat.
Following a highly regulated end to end sterilization/decontamination process on surgical instruments that have been used in operations in local NHS and private hospitals, to ensure they can be used again safely for the next patient.
Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust's appointed person.
An annual salary of £25,272 plus a 5% performance bonus, and generous shift allowances if you work overtime/unsociable hours! Plus, a higher cost of living allowance if you work in London.

Access to a Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship! This is a 12-15 month fully funded programme studying good scientific practice for the Healthcare profession! It is universally applicable outside of STERIS! Completed on the job, you are given 20% of your working hours to study towards the qualification. Further apprenticeships are available throughout the course of your career!
