Safety Engineer Intern

This position will assist with essential projects related to incident prevention, compliance, and culture while gaining invaluable experience for their future career. This position will require a passion for safety, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to maintain company and employee confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with the site EHS Team to set standards, create documentation, and make recommendations on EHS related improvements for the company.
  2. Partner with multiple teams ranging from production to support functions to provide EHS support for day-to-day operations.
  3. Participate in risk assessments and making recommendations to reduce risk.
  4. Assist with EHS improvement projects.
  5. Deliver EHS training on programs, policies, and procedures.
  6. Conduct routine workplace EHS inspections to identify workplace hazards.
  7. Participate in incident case management, including investigations and root cause analysis.
  8. Manage records and distribute documents.
  9. EHS related data collection, analysis, and trending.
  10. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management.
  11. Helps company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
  12. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Quality – Participate in job-specific training. Complete work as indicated by standard work, processes, and/or procedures. If your work can't be completed as required, notify your supervisor immediately for guidance.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • 2+ years of courses in Engineering
  • Proficient skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint
  • Basic time management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication, including interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with good organization and planning skills

  • An acceptable combination of education and experience Functional & Cognitive Requirements of Position
  • This position requires walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree.
  • Must have the ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending.
  • Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.
  • Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed.
  • This role may be subject to internal and external environmental conditions.
