Expeditor

Expeditor reports to Food Services Supervisor in the Food Services department. The Expeditor oversees the efficient preparation and delivery of room service food trays for patients. The Room Service Expeditor coordinates the efforts of all positions involved in preparing patient trays for delivery. This position does not directly supervise any caregivers.

Essential functions and duties include reviewing patient meal order tickets, directing the assembly of patient trays, monitoring activities of various persons preparing food, participating in the assembly of patient trays, delivering trays to patient rooms, maintaining knowledge of therapeutic diets and menu items, storing and handling all food properly, maintaining clean work areas, providing backup coverage for Diet Aid, Prep Cooks and other positions, supporting the vision, mission and values of the organization, providing and maintaining a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests, conducting all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality, delivering customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, and performing additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.

Education: N/A. Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Required: Deschutes County Food Handlers Card. Preferred: ServSafe Manager Certification. Experience: Required: Minimum 2 years institutional or restaurant food service experience. Preferred: Some food services management or supervisor experience. Skills: Must have excellent communication skills, ability to multi-task and work independently, strong team working and collaborative skills, ability to work in a stressful, fast paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and delivering high quality customer service, basic to intermediate ability and experience in computer applications, electronic email and MS Office applications.

Physical requirements: Continually: Standing and walking, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-10 pounds, grasping/squeezing. Frequently: Sitting, bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing stairs, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 11-25 pounds. Occasionally: Climbing ladder/step-stool, reaching overhead, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds, operation of a motor vehicle, using clear and audible speaking voice and ability to hear normal speech level. Rarely: Keyboard operation. Never: Ability to hear whispered speech level. Exposure to elemental factors: Occasionally: Heat, cold, wet/slippery area, noise, dust, vibration, chemical solution, uneven surface. Blood-borne pathogen (BBP) exposure category: Risk for exposure to BBP.
