Position Highlights

The Jackson County Circuit Court in Medford, Oregon, is hiring a Civil Intake Clerk/Cashier (Court Operations Clerk).

In this role, you will open new cases and process documents for civil, family, probate, landlord/tenant, and small claims matters. You will update case information in the electronic case management system. You will update multiple court calendars by scheduling cases and hearings. You will prepare and certify copies. You will also process and route mail.

You will provide customer service by answering questions from the public, attorneys, and agencies. The support you provide will be in person at the counter, over the phone, and in writing. As a cashier, you will process payments made at the counter and through the mail. You will also balance your cash drawer each day.

Part of your time will be spent providing coverage for Court Operations Clerks in another unit.

Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent. AND At least one (1) year of responsible clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.

  • Experience handling cash or credit card transactions and generating receipts.

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma, including people who may be angry, hostile, confused, or frustrated.
  • Daily contact with victims of domestic abuse.
  • Long periods of sitting or standing while working at a computer and performing data entry each day.
  • Ability to lift items that weigh up to 40 pounds.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
  • The qualified candidate must start the process of CJIS clearance within the first week of hire.
