Role Overview:

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office seeks team members dedicated to public service, public safety, and fairness and justice for all who come into contact with the criminal justice system. The Interpreter for the Latino Services Team assists Spanish-speaking victims and witnesses throughout the criminal litigation process.

Salary Statement:

The salary is commensurate with education or work experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an Interpreter and the contact person for Spanish-speaking victims and witnesses, including but not limited to keeping them informed about the progress of the case, dates to attend court, and meetings with the Deputy Prosecutor.
  • Attend court proceedings with Spanish-speaking victims and witnesses.
  • Assist Deputy Prosecutors during court proceedings, as requested.
  • Attend depositions with Spanish-speaking victims and witnesses.
  • Translate and transcribe documents and recordings.

Job Knowledge, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or Social Sciences or two years of experience working within the criminal justice system.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Outlook, and Word.
  • Must possess good communication and computer skills.
  • Must be organized and able to work independently.
  • Experience working with people in crisis or emergency situations is a plus.
  • It is preferred that the applicant be Indiana Supreme Court Certified.
