Disaster Recovery Assistant
The incumbent will participate as an assistant to the DR team in the facilitation of functional and tabletop exercises, creation, and maintenance of recovery plans for numerous core services and critical applications. The incumbent also will assist in providing analysis, planning, and execution of recovery testing based on newly created and existing recovery plans within the DR support team.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with analyzing and evaluating service owner written material and system specifications of the systems covered by the DR plan.
- Assist in the facilitation of meetings attended by project team(s), ITS management and CTO staff to discuss specific DR plans and tests.
- Assist with analyzing architecture of critical systems and core services to ensure continuity of essential agency functions for ITS supported Executive Agencies.
- Assist in the development, interpretation, review and communication of DR policies, procedures and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards to ensure DR documentation is consistent.
- Assisting DR Specialist with conferring with higher level managers and ITS architects to develop test plans, taking into consideration technical and staffing resources.
- Assist with the creation and tracking of simple and complex metrics to track DR workflow initiatives
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a US citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be currently attending a New York State college, university or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State
- Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a more extended period of time may qualify part-time students) OR currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
- Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or equivalent to a C.
Additional Comments:

This position can be part time or full time. Fingerprinting and background check may be required.
