ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.

Under the direction of Manager Information Technology Services 2 (SG-29), within the Digital Transformation Office, Digital Engineering Bureau, Engineering Services Section, the Manager Information Technology Services 1 (SG-27) will serve as a senior cloud & special projects solutions architect. Specific duties include, but not limited to:

• Perform architecture and technical design activities and peer reviews for new and ongoing projects. Develop, review and maintain technical specifications;
• Collaborate with other teams including security, networks, and DevSecOps to build technical solutions while following best practices;
• Ensure that system designs meet compliance requirements;
• Develop proof of concept technical implementations;
• Develop and maintain system documentation, including detailed written technical procedures and reports;
• Participate in team meetings and work with users and IT staff to discuss IT solution options;
• Assist in recommending appropriate system platforms for meeting program requirements;
• Perform resource and release management duties including assigning tasks, providing guidance and oversight to other development staff; and
• Provide guidance and feedback to junior development and architecture staff.

Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as a Manager Information Technology Services 1, SG27/M2, OR in a position at the SG25 or M1 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades or one M-grade.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
