The position involves the planning of new development projects, from a civil engineering perspective, to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget while keeping company executives informed at all times. This position manages the development process, with a focus on civil engineering, from start to finish.
• Plan and coordinate project development activities relating to assigned projects
• Create and manage project plan schedules for production, submissions, and approvals
• Analyze and resolve project issues in a timely and accurate manner
• Perform preliminary site, civil infrastructure analysis including preliminary cut and fill off exercises, grading & drainage analysis
• Perform preliminary site design to understand density options and comply with zoning restrictions
• Collaborate with Project Management to obtain project proposals and develop project plans, schedules, and budgets
• Read, interpret, and convey building codes, zoning, and ordinances
• Represent the company at municipal meetings
• Collaborate with internal planning & design team
• Coordinate due diligence work with third-party vendors, i.e., ordering Alta/Geo/Phase1, etc.
• Coordinate with civil, traffic engineers, environmental consultants, landscape design, and site lighting
• Coordinate plans between design team(s) and municipal authorities and clients
• Competently read and understand civil engineering drawings and problem solve for any obstacles
• Manage contracts and bids with vendors and suppliers
• Build take-off budgets and proformas for various types of projects
• Provide updates to project schedules as needed to keep the project on schedule
• Effectively communicate and convey with leadership on project updates, potential risks, technical challenges, and recommend appropriate mitigation plans
• Any and all other duties assigned by supervisor within the scope of employee's ability
• BS in Civil Engineering
• Experience with the ground up development and horizontal design management preferred.
• Knowledge of basic building design and systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D)
• Demonstrated experience in reading construction documents, and specification manuals.
• Minimum 5 years Civil Engineering, project planning, oversight, and delivery experience.
