Consultant, HR Systems

As a Consultant, HR Systems, at Staples you will be a key member of the HR Operations team supporting Staples US Retail, partnering with HR and business stakeholders to modernize HR technology and enhance associate experience.

This role is responsible for the management, optimization, and evolution of HR systems, ensuring alignment with business strategy and HR priorities. You will serve as a trusted advisor and change agent—bringing forward innovative, scalable, and repeatable solutions—while staying current on emerging HR technology trends. The role specifically supports Oracle Fusion HCM, with a focus on Learning, Performance, Recruiting, and Onboarding.

Key Deliverables & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Oracle Fusion HCM modules, including Learning, Performance, Recruiting, and Onboarding.
  • Partner with HR and business stakeholders to identify opportunities to streamline and improve HR processes through technology.
  • Collaborate with HR, IT, and internal customer groups to understand business needs, facilitate solution design, and implement system enhancements.
  • Consult, advise, and guide business partners on best practices for leveraging HR technology in support of their objectives.
  • Design, configure, test, implement, and maintain HR systems and technology solutions.
  • Analyze HR processes and systems to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and associate experience.
  • Lead system enhancements, upgrades, and deployments within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Drive adoption of scalable, repeatable solutions that support long‑term efficiency and growth.
  • Support change management activities, including documentation, training, and user enablement.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to HR partners on system functionality and new capabilities.
  • Gather and incorporate user feedback to continuously improve HR systems and tools.
  • Build strong partnerships across HR COEs, Shared Services, IT, and business teams to align system capabilities with organizational needs.
  • Stay informed on emerging HR technology trends and recommend innovative solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience supporting or managing HR systems or HR technology.
  • Experience working in a complex or multi‑site organization.
  • In‑depth knowledge of HR processes, HR data, and HRIS structure and design.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
  • Ability to analyze and document business requirements against system capabilities.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and configure business processes within Oracle HCM.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present insights in a clear, business‑friendly manner.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence, and collaborate across functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal direction.
  • Comfort driving work forward in ambiguous or evolving environments.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Hands‑on experience with Oracle Fusion HCM, particularly Learning, Performance, Recruiting, and Onboarding.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., JIRA).
  • Change‑oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and associate experience.
